Wildlife Park Cambodia

The kingdom of Cambodia with its capital city Phnom Penh is a country in south-east Asia. It borders the Gulf of Thailand and is located between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Cambodia's degree of development is about the same as Thailand's 30 years ago. It’s one of the world’s poorest countries due to the civil war that devasteted the country for decades. It was all the more astonishing for us - 'Animal Protection concerns us all!' - to discover the wildlife park “Phnom Tamao” in Phnom Penh.

The zoo was built on an animal welfare idea. The organization “Wildlife Alliance” is the market leader for direct protection of woods and animals in south-east Asia. Their mission is to fight against deforestation, mass death of animals, climate change and poverty through the partnership with local communities and governments. The organization’s focus lies on the immediate effect of climate change on the environment and the ability to communicate with local inhabitants, especially in view of everyday tasks as well as to convey their basic ideas, instead of sending teachers to every community. The entrance fee to this area of wildlife park, zoo and safari mix costs 150 USD per person. Considering that it has a usable area of 2600km2 the price seems reasonable. From now on we can proudly say that our organization, 'Animal Protection concerns us all!', is a donor to Wilflife Alliance, too.
